Unsettled by US politicians pushing disclosure
1 min readI am a bit unsettled by the fact that it seems to be only extreme rightwing politicians in the US who are pushing for disclosure, many of the same ones who claimed there is a “deep state conspiracy” against Donald Trump, etc.
I am very suspicious of their claims about deep state cover ups, especially given the lack of any leaks of real evidence (excluding hearsay, which is all we have with Grusch, Elizondo, etc) from anywhere else in the government.
I don’t necessarily think they are making up everything out of whole cloth, but I feel they are almost certainly exaggerating it in order to advance their agenda of destroying faith in all aspects of government. (It is ironic for me to say this, as someone who is extremely critical and skeptical of national defense and security state specifically, though not all aspects of government).
I don’t think they want real disclosure. I think they want a little bit of something to become public, that they can then twist to fit their far right agenda.
Where is this leading? Perhaps to a purge of relatively sane people in the national security apparatus, in order to make those institutions more friendly to Trump and aligned fascists. Perhaps just to taking away yet more functions from the government and handing them out to contractors.
Either way, the fact that it’s always Rubio, Burchett, and their buddies smells off to me.
